commission policies

general

  • all commissions are subject to my interest and availability

    • I do not duplicate previous work, and I prefer commissions that give me creative liberty

  • submitting an inquiry is an application, not a contract

    • I try to respond to all inquiries within a week

    Cost

    • the final cost of a commission is determined by the cost of materials plus an hourly rate for labor, including design time

    • if your commission is accepted, an estimated price range will be provided

    • if you accept the estimated price range, a deposit will be required

      • if I find that I need more time or material than the initial estimate, that will be communicated and you will be included in any decision making

    timeline

    • repair inquiries with rigid deadlines must be submitted at least 45 days before the deadline

    • custom inquiries with rigid deadlines must be submitted at least 90 days before the deadline

    • the timelines above represent an absolute minimum (rush), more lead time is preferred

      • rush jobs will include an extra fee if accepted

furniture

  • transportation of furniture is your responsibility

  • furniture often contains hidden problems, for this reason reupholstery timelines must be flexible

  • I am very allergic to cats, large or time consuming jobs for cat owners are less likely to be accepted and will include an extra fee if they are accepted (sorry, it’s for meds)

garments

  • custom garments require specific measurements, which you must agree to provide

  • care instructions will be provided, I am not responsible for any damage resulting from improper garment care
